The students of Health Therapies and Dr Sharad Hansjee went on an exciting and informative tour on the 22 October and 23 October. Students visited the Body World exhibition which was an anatomical learning and exploration of the human body through a detailed visual presentation of dissected human bodies. Student highly appreciated the deep significance of the muscles, nerves, bones and anatomical parts of the human body.
Students also visited a spa for lunch at Magaliesburg and some adventurous students and Dr Hansjee hiked up to the mountains and experienced the deep serenity of the mountain areas. Students rested at a lodge and had a night of dance and togetherness.
The tour team also visited the Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre and were privileged to be lectured by Margaret Roberts who discussed tissue salts and herbal remedies. Mrs Roberts also presented the lecturer with a book which was to be kept in the Academy Library for reference. Margaret also took the students on a tour of her herbal garden and explained the uses of various herbs and plants.
The student team were also then transported to Hoogland hydro where a tour was arranged of the hydro and an explanation was given of how patients undergo the different therapeutic and complimentary treatments at the hydro.
Students all benefited with the adventure, learning and introduction to complimentary systems of treatment.
