Therapeutic Massage is mobilising and manipulating soft tissue (such as muscles and fascia) to restore everyday biomechanical/functional use. It can assist in treating tension, pain relief, and musculoskeletal problems. Regular massage can improve circulation, joint mobility, and general well-being. Therapeutic Massage is an integral part of the healing process of injuries. It aids in the recovery phase of injury. It can also benefit patients suffering from the negative effects of stress and tension or athletes who wish to enhance their sports performance and prevent injury. The techniques taught within the qualification range from gentle, relaxing massage to deeper techniques like Trigger Point therapy and Myofascial Techniques. This qualification falls under the Allied Health Professionals Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) and is governed by the Allied Health Professions Act. Upon completion of the qualification, the student must register with the AHPCSA, after which a practice number can be applied.
