Therapeutic Reflexology

Stimulating Self-Healing

Pressure point massage is applied to reflex points on the hands or feet to stimulate the body to heal itself. This process of activating self-healing will reduce pain, discomfort, and imbalances throughout the body. The feet, hands, ears, and face are considered a map of the whole body and corresponding organs. The corresponding reflexes to the organs are stimulated using pressure application using specific thumb and finger manipulation. It is not a massage, and it is not a substitute for medical treatment. It is a therapeutic way to relieve stress and an effective treatment to achieve optimum health. The qualities required of a Therapeutic Reflexologist are someone who can listen attentively, show empathy, and enjoy working with people. This qualification falls under the Allied Health Professionals Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) and is governed by the Allied Health Professions Act. Upon completion of the qualification, the student must register with the AHPCSA, after which a practice number can be applied.
